For almost a year now, I’ve been wanting to buy a certain Saber PVC from Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. It’s a 1/8 scale of Saber in a Black Dress, sculpted by the well-renowned Kawahara Takayuki.
I had my chance when a few of my officemates were sent to Hong Kong on business, but firmly declined the offer when I found out it was HK$325 (so that’s about US$45?). I was expecting it to be a lot less, since it was Hong Kong after all, and since I was broke… I had to let her go…
The other day, I went about a little hobby shop, browsing for a few Pokemons for my nephew, where lo and behold…
a Dark Saber stared at me from the little dark corner. Even if she was dusty, I picked her up and has a look…
The price tag read: US$30.
I immediately asked the shop-owner if this was original, and not a recast. She said it was original, one of her son’s figures that he never opened. Being skeptical, I went home and pondered… checking out the sites for information to check if there had been any grade A piracy going on.
After being thoroughly convinced that it was original, I went back to the shop. Fresh from work (and being given my salary), I asked if the shop owner would give me a discount…
And she did…
I am now the proud owner of Saber Black Dress Version, and I only bought her for $28… *^_^* Oh happy, happy!
