Boo!

Can anyone say ouch? Poor grandpa. The sad thing is, I don’t even know if the grandmother’s trying to be funny or not with her comment, what with her poker face and all.

I guess I don’t really believe in the spirit of Halloween. Like most holidays, it’s been commercialized to the nth level (candied pumpkins, anyone?), not to mention the fact that its origins aren’t really that… er, holy to begin with. Sure, you can always blame it on me being a scaredy-cat (which is a bit true), but that’s not really the entire story. It just doesn’t seem right that we celebrate monsters and creatures of the night, when what we’re supposed to do is spend some time remembering the dead. It’s as if we’re saying to them, “Hey, you resemble Frankenstein’s monster!”

It’s just plain wrong.
