If you’re an otaku, then you have undoubtedly seen, heard, or maybe even actually cosplayed yourself.
For those who aren’t otakus, cosplay is a term derived from 2 words, “costume” and “roleplay”. Simply put, fans of anime, manga, and Japanese games dress up as their favorite character in gatherings and act like them.
Now, in all technicality, this should not be a way for people to be racists and point out how the Japanese and/or Asian community looks more like the said character than the Western Community. Seriously. I get annoyed by the racist blog postings I see all over the Internet.
And evidently, when you’re trying to destroy your own country, be careful how you type?
Anyway, I’m not taking anyone’s sides on this. I’m Asian after all. And I can’t say I haven’t seen bad cosplays in my area… Even in Japan, there are some cosplays that make you wish you could delete them from your brain.
Here is a good example that not all thin people make the best of cosplays… Ok, so yeah, it’s cross-dressing, and it scares me.
In my opinion? It doesn’t matter whether you’re Asian, Western, fat, or thin. Just make sure you actually resemble the character you’re imitating, please!!! Then we can all spare the headache and eye-stabbing…
