(PSP version)
For those who have played the internet based game Neopets, you’ll find a lot of familiar characters and elements in the game. You’ll be playing the role of a Petpet who is out to retrieve the Wand of Wishing stolen from his owner. The Wand of Wishing has tremendous power and it should not fall in the hands of evil.
Your starting stats will depend on the Petpet you choose. A perfect Petpet to start with is the Doglefox since he/she has balanced stats. Basically, you hack and slash your way through the game. Armed with a basic armor and weapon, you start off by doing simple quests asked by the NPCs. By doing so, you get to earn neopoints and consumables that you can use as you go further into your journey.
Cute on the exterior, this game is definitely challenging, since most of the bad creatures like to attack in groups and the first boss that you’ll have to defeat is really powerful. They key to finishing the game is to keep on training. Save your neopoints and use the town’s training grounds in order to increase your stats, be sure to bring a lot of HP increase consumables. Note that these consumables will go back to its original number when you entered once you go out of the training ground.
Another thing to look out for is once you kill a creature they will no longer re-spawn. This is not like the other adventure games where you can easily camp out in an area where you can level up and earn money. So spend the money and items that you pick up wisely.
Don’t forget to explore all areas of a map and hack through anything destruct-able. You’ll never know what you’re going to find.
What I like about this game is that your character can be a knight-hunter-wizard class all at the same time. Depending on what stats you increase you can make a really strong Petpet. This definitely gives new meaning to cuteness kills.
