Your reputation as a buyer (or ‘feedback rating’) is the most important thing people see when they deal with you on eBay. It is on the basis of this little number that they will decide whether they can trust you or not.

Each time you buy or sell something on eBay, people can leave feedback for you, and you can leave feedback for them. This feedback can be positive, negative, or neutral, along with a comment. Your feedback rating, then, is worked out using a very simple sum: the number of positive feedback comments people have left for you, minus the number of negative ones. This means that someone with a feedback rating of 28, for example, might have 30 positive ratings and 2 negative ones.

If you are a considerate buyer, then you should find that positive feedback will just appear next to your username, without you needing to do anything. If you want to help it along, though, there are a few things you can do.

Always leave feedback for others: People will feel an obligation to leave feedback for you if you leave it for them (eBay will send you an email after each transaction to offer you the opportunity). Take the time to write a positive comment about sellers who do what they should and the chances are they’ll do the same for you.

Pay promptly: Sellers love nothing more than to be paid promptly - paying as soon as the auction ends saves the seller all sorts of worry, especially if you pay by credit card or another electronic method. You will often find that your positive feedback appears within a few minutes of you paying if you pay as soon as the auction ends.

Don’t be a difficult customer: Understand that your seller might take a day or so to respond to you, and perhaps a few days to send your item - harassing them is nasty and unnecessary, and won’t get you good feedback.

Build relationships: If a seller sells a lot of a certain kind of thing you like, buy from them a few more times. They will be very happy to find a regular customer, and will go out of their way to leave positive feedback like ‘a joy to deal with as ever’. Also, they might offer you a few special deals!

Sellers won’t generally be reluctant to sell to buyers without much of a reputation, simply because it is the buyer who takes most of the risk in a transaction. It is worth remembering, however, that transactions where you are the seller and where you are the buyer are counted towards the same feedback total - so if you ever want to start selling, being a good buyer is especially worthwhile.

On eBay, people pay far more attention to sellers’ ratings than they do to buyers’ - most sellers can’t be bothered to check their buyers’ feedback, while bad feedback on a seller can (and should) be a dealbreaker. When you are buying, then, you need to worry more about the seller’s reputation than you do about your own, and that’s why the next email will be all about sellers’ feedback ratings.

TheWeblogZone.com - A blog about Blogging and Online Marketing highly recommends Thesis Wordpress Theme for your blog!

When you buy something from an eBay seller, you are giving them your money and hoping that you will get something in return. However many guarantees of safety eBay might make to you, nothing is certain: if you just give your money to scammers all the time without doing any checks then the chances are you won’t get all of that money back.

That’s why you should always check the seller’s reputation, or ‘feedback rating’. This is a quick and easy-to-read summary of their history as an eBay seller, which gives you some idea of whether or not you should trust them with your money. Buying anything is a calculated risk: you want to minimise that risk.

How to Check Feedback Ratings.

On each item’s description page, there is a box in the top-right hand corner about the seller, with the title ‘Seller information’. This contains the seller’s name, their feedback score, and their positive feedback percentage, as well as any stars they have earned.

Different coloured stars are given to eBay sellers depending on their rating, in this sequence: yellow, blue, turquoise, purple, red, green, shooting yellow, shooting turquoise, shooting purple, shooting red. Anyone with a ’shooting’ star is an experienced eBay member who you should be able to trust.

If you click on the seller’s name, you can get to a more detailed view of their reputation - their ‘member profile’ page. This page shows the total number of people who gave them a positive or negative rating, as well as a breakdown by time. You can also see a complete history of all the comments that have ever been left about them, with the most recent first.

What to Look For.

You might assume that anyone with a very high number can be trusted, but that isn’t always true. It is more important to look at their positive feedback percentage - and you should really consider anything below 99% to be a red flag and investigate further.

Take a look through the first visible page with the most recent transactions: are there any negative comments? What do they say? Take others’ experiences into account, as they could happen to you if you deal with this person. Be careful not to punish sellers unfairly, however, if they did bad things in their past on eBay but have improved since. You should look at the breakdown by time and ignore any negative feedback that was left a long time ago. Equally, though, you should sit up and pay attention if a seller seems to have been left an out-of-character amount of bad feedback in the last month or so.

Now that you know who to trust, it is worth learning a little more about how the different kinds of auctions work, so that you don’t accidentally slip up and make yourself and your feedback page look bad. Our next email will be about the different kinds of auctions you can expect to encounter during your time on eBay.

If you’ve spent anytime on the internet in the past year you’ve no doubt heard about affiliate marketing or participated in it, possibly without even knowing it.

So what is affiliate marketing?

Millionaires are being made everyday with this new craze on internet, and now everyday people are starting to discover the huge opportunity online.

Believe it or not affiliate marketing has been around since the beginning of the internet. Companies like Amazon.com used it to build a multi-million dollar business and huge sales force that they never pay unless they make sales first.

Essentially the way it works is that you will recommend or advertise a product for a product owner or company to an end user, or buyer. The person you are advertising for will have an affiliate program and some method of tracking ID. This tracking ID is recorded automatically to make sure that when someone buys a product they get there predetermined percentage.

Many of the vendors will even pay you a higher percentage than they make. And you just get to collect checks.

The reason this industry is gaining momentum so fast and becoming the ideal business for net savvy entrepreneurs is because of the type of lifestyle it affords you. Freedom of time, theoretically freedom of money and no customer service or physical products to deliver; no, the product vendor takes care of all of that for you.

Ok, so why isn’t everybody doing this.

I can assure you many people are… some succeed and some fail.

What is it that separates the winners from the losers?

As in any business success comes through due diligence and the key points that new affiliates miss out on is

#1 learning from the right people

#2 Sticking with it until it clicks and “the code is cracked”

The thing to realize is that affiliate marketing is still a business and at the beginning there is groundwork to be laid. Every good business requires a good plan.

  • Are you looking to join an affiliate program hoping to make some extra cash? Affiliate programs abound on the Internet. In fact, in doing a search on MSN, I came up with about 145,000,000 links to affiliate programs. Since you probably don’t have ten lifetimes to analyze even a small percentage of the available opportunites, you need to be able to narrow your search and focus on programs that optimize your earning potential. What are some of the characteristics to look for in a good affiliate program?

As mentioned, there are literally thousands of affiliate programs selling all kinds of products and services. One of the toughest decisions is deciding on what kind of products to promote. While the scope of available programs are too numerous to list, they basically come in two different shades; ‘real’ physical products and digital products and services. Real products like automotive accessories, apparel, electronics, sports equipment, etc., generally pay a lower percentage of commission on sales, but are oftentimes products that sell at a higher price.

Digital products and services on the other hand usually pay a much higher commission ranging from 25% all the way up to 75% of the selling price.

    While you can make money selling either type of product or service, I would offer a few suggestions in choosing what type of program to be involved with;

    a) Don’t chose an affiliate program strictly because of its commission structure. If you have no interest in selling maternity products then it makes little sense to try and sell them even if they offer a high commission payout. All things being equal, you’ll do much better selling something that you have an interest in.

    b) Consider affiliate programs that offer residual income. Some companies offer products and services that are needed on an ongoing basis. Online businesses that provide services such as webhosting, autoresponders, etc., offer you the opportunity to earn income on a continuing basis.

    c) Some businesses also have a two-tier affiliate structure which allows you to earn money on people that you refer. Earning money on the efforts of others can increase your income substantially. While you shouldn’t rule out an affiliate program if they don’t offer this, it can be a boost to your earnings.

For those having their own website, you should look for affiliate programs that match the content of your site. It’s all about synergy, and you want to promote products that match what your site represents.

Another thing to look for is the credibility of the affiliate program you’re getting involved with. You can usually get a lot of information on a business just by doing a google search. Look to see what’s been said about the business and corresponding affiliate program. Since the products that you’re promoting will be an extension of yourself and your business, you want to promote products that have a good track record.

Lastly, don’t fall for ridiculous income claims. While there are some who make big money promoting affiliate programs, they have been at it for a while, and know a few things about Internet Marketing. Start with reasonable expectations such as making one sale a day. If you did just that, and earned $20 commission on each sale, you would be making $600 a month. Not getting rich, but not a bad start.

Affiliate programs come in all shapes and sizes. They are an excellent place to start for those just getting their feet wet in trying to earn money on the Internet. Just be sure to do your due research, and keep the above tips in mind when choosing an affiliate program.

  • Definitions and Overview:

An affiliate is a business group or just one person who does the marketing and promotion for another group or person. Online affiliates are basically website owners who allow online buying of merchants’ products on their own (affiliate’s website). It has been found that merchants themselves have commercial websites and portals on which online purchasing is carried over.

    Origin:

There is no precise date recorded when we can say the practice originated. In the heydays of radio broadcasting, especially in N America, popular radio networks were short of time slots as there used to be numerous radio programs in the pipeline. These networks, in order to reach out for more people, delegated some tasks like transmission of certain programs to local radio stations. These were the first affiliates, literally speaking, and were unlike business partners. By engaging the affiliates the networks expanded their businesses and in turn the small, local radio stations were able to generate revenue. Decades later the concept was borrowed from the broadcasting medium by online merchants and vendors. Like small, local radio stations, numerous websites were available to carry out the tasks of these merchants and today the trend has gained an immense importance and is turning out to be a discipline in itself.

Online affiliates, merchants and revenue generation: Prior to the joining as affiliates website owners had limited options to make money. Online advertising was still being pursued but the tools and techniques were meager. At that point some e-commerce geniuses hit upon the idea and started delegating some business tasks to other website owners.

This is how business is done -

A merchant is closely associated with some production unit or services company. The merchant takes products and services directly from the one providing it and then sells it online. This saves the distribution cost for manufacturing company as the products goes directly from production unit to the customer who purchases it from the merchant’s site. A merchant indeed gets the product at lower prices - the factory price but then audience has to be made aware of the extra money they pay to wholesalers, transportation and distribution personnel and finally retailers.

Over the course of time merchants want to expand their business but starting a new commercial website or portal takes much effort and time. Therefore they approach other website owners, the affiliates and use their resources. Affiliates normally allow marketing as well as sales tasks on their websites. The profit made is shared by the merchant and affiliate.

    Earn money from home:

In this section we will see how affiliates can make money by just working from home. It all begins with a web resource such as website. If you already have one fifty per cent job is done. But if you don’t it is still alright as you can make a customized one. Once you have a website you go for promotions till the time there is enough traffic on your website. With the help of some analysis tools and software you can monitor every action that takes place on your website. After that you send requisitions to e-commerce portals or websites and tell them you are interested in becoming an affiliate. The merchants or owners of the portals will review your website and you may get the deal. The golden rule to get the deal is enough traffic and popularity. The commissions will be fixed by you and the merchants for any sales generated and paid to you. And the best part is that all of it can be done from your own apartment room or home. In the course of the time you will understand all tricks of the trade and thereby lay a solid foundation for your home business. Best of luck and earn money with affiliate marketing.

  • Online affiliates are the Internet professionals who do marketing and advertising for the merchants. The merchants here includes all those commercial website owners who themselves sell product or services on their own websites.

An affiliate program is an interface that allows merchants and affiliate to interact with each other and carry forward the desired business tasks. The program is provided by the merchant. Affiliate program gives specifications to an affiliate as how he can access the merchant and what services are desired of him. The program may be designed and developed by the merchant himself or may be provided by yet another party, called the affiliate network.

Even if the resource of website published is ready to carry out the tasks of affiliate marketing, the owner needs to access the merchant in the first place and then understand what requirements are to be fulfilled. Normally what happens, a merchant selling products on his website provides an additional interface on the website. The interface exists as a dialogue box or may be separate web page. This interface allows the publisher to register to the merchant and thus establish an account. There are different types of accounts and programs provided by the merchants and also different terms under which they can be availed.

On of the most renowned programs was the one given by Amazon.com. The affiliate program allowed hundreds of website owners to register with Amazon.com and subsequently the chain grew and helped Amazon.com to have a position of its own - the unchallenged one in affiliate business.

What exactly is an affiliate program?

People talk about it but few people really know what they are talking about. For a newbie or even an amateur it is a nerve racking exercise to find what it is all about. You may visit hundreds of websites bragging about it but let us give it to you at one place and in one piece.

Affiliate program is web application software that allows a website owner to reach out to the merchant. The software interface is much like any website form or registration module you might have come across to. It is not only the mere software that makes up an affiliate program but a complete set of components that describes what services are to be expected from anyone registering as an affiliate. Sometimes, provided in the program are various components explaining the terms and conditions like different types of commissions, modes of payment and further services.

Further, the affiliate program tends to define the executing of tasks by the affiliates. The tasks are predefined and so are the methods and means. A publisher may however review it and put forward his own suggestions. It is not like someone giving an online sales advertisement and the affiliate putting in one of his most controversial sections.

How you can make money out of affiliate programs?

Well that is one interesting thing which the publishers and users might be waiting for. There are primarily two ways by which you can earn money from an affiliate program. You either provide one or you just register in one. Providing an affiliate program is for the merchants or commercial website owners who are interested in expanding their business. Joining one is for an affiliate or website publisher interested in providing the space and thus meeting the requirements of the affiliate. In many tier programs you can further convince others to join as affiliates and thus earn regular commissions from the merchant. As such you can go for the marketing of the affiliate program itself.

  • In the modern day scenario, there is a strong possibility that everything that exists today might not be needed tomorrow. This is primarily because of innovation and technology. A business, being no exception, also needs to take care of this universal fact and must stress on continuing research and development tools and techniques for its survival and prosperity. This is the reason why modern day businesses use the medium of Internet to promote their products and services.

The promotion of products and services on the Internet has many benefits such as mass appeal, fast transmission and reasonable price to name a few. Many companies develop or make use of result-oriented advertising tools such as online affiliates for this very purpose.

There are many websites on the Internet today which help other business houses by providing their specialised services to them. These affiliate marketing websites such as Wikipedia and various others help a business to redefine its approach to the business. A new name to come in this direction is the about-to-come Knoll, Google’s content project response to Wikipedia.

Affiliate programs and networks are free for participation by the affiliates. An individual who desires of being a part of these programs just needs to visit the website and complete the signup forms. After the forms have been completed, the owner of the affiliate will approve or disapprove, as the case may be. Some of the modern day affiliates have an approval process while others just grant membership without any prior approval.

Let us understand the meaning and functionality of affiliate marketing before discussing online affiliates. Affiliate marketing can be referred to the relationship between the merchants (advertisers) and the webmasters (affiliates, publishers) in which the merchant offers a commission fee structure to the affiliates for the purpose of linking into the merchant’s site with a predefined aim to offer their good and services for sale.

The greatest benefit of this kind of marketing is the display of the respective products and services with an aim to create sales for the advertisers to the prospective customers on a virtual shelf space across the World Wide Web.

Now let us understand online affiliates. These affiliates are the website owners or publishers who offer the space to the advertisers on the Internet so that these advertisers can create and sustain demand and awareness for their products and services. They offer their services for a definite fee and the fee is dependent up on the number of times an Internet user use this “allotted space” to enter into the website of the advertiser.

You can advertise your blog online and off-line and you may choose to do so with paid advertising methods or you can do them for free!

Here are 6 ways to advertise your blog.

    Banner Ads

This is probably the simplest way to use, to advertise your blog. They are probably the biggest attention grabber with those large size texts, and graphics. Banner Ads however can be quite costly to implement.

    Text Link Ads

Text link ads are actually proven to be the most effective way as they resemble the natural form of web content. People are shown to click more on text link Ads than on Banner Ads.

    Pay-per Click

PPC or Pay-per-Click is a great vehicle to advertise your blog. The nice thing is you only pay for the clicks you get.

    Forums

Choose the area suitable to distribute your materials, for instance, if you are blogging on sports betting, don’t distribute flyers to religious groups and during Sunday church gatherings.

Select the method of advertising most suitable for your budget and keep track of your ROIs. Be flexible in your approach and you will soon get those visitors and subscribers that you need.

    21. Stop Putting Tons Of Ads On Your Blog
This is what most people will do. When they found out that they can actually make more money using their blogs. Then they will start putting ads all across their blog. This is not a very good idea. Because when your blog is full of ads, it can be very irritated. You can insert ads, there is no wrong with it. But for all new bloggers, earning money from blog is not a good idea for them. Beginners should concentrate and focus on building up their blog and not merely just focusing on making money from blogs. I’ve also mentioned about this point in my previous post, 10 Common Blogging Mistakes. So you can always read more in my previous post about this matter. I know you want to make money from your blog, me too. But you need to develop your blog first, then only focus on making more money from your blogs.

    22. Running Out Of Topics?
This is also one of the very main factor that people give up in blogging. They cannot find what topic to post anymore. Now this is not true. You can always be creative, think out of the box. Sometimes you may come across some very nice idea of what to write, but after awhile, you forgot and find that you’ve got nothing to write. So this is what I do, when I come across some nice interesting topics, I will straight away jot it down or memorize in my hand phone. This way, I won’t forgot any interesting topic to post anymore. As for you, you can always have your own way of remembering things though. All you need is to be creative and think out of the box. Sometimes you can also search for information to post about from the internet. However, please don’t simply copy and paste. You will get penalized by the search engine.

    23. A Very Long Post? Break It Into Parts
I’ve come across some post, it is a very long post. But the topic is very interesting, so I start reading it. After awhile, I feel tired and stop reading it. This is what will happen if your blog post is too long. You can always break it into parts. Like what I do in this post. However, I’ve come across a very high trafficked blog, and the author’s opinion is that, he said he don’t even care about what others are saying. He will post whenever he want, and no matter how long the post will goes. Indeed he has got a very good blog with tons of visitors and readers. Its a waste that I forgot to bookmark that blog, or else I can show you here. So for me, I think the best is to break a long post into parts. Sometimes it is very irritated that a post is so long, and it may took lots of time to digest its content.

    24. Avoid A Very Long Homepage
Now, this is also another problem. Some bloggers like to show all of their posts in a single page. Means that they show many posts in their homepage. What you will get is visitors will find your blog too lengthy, and off they go. People are lazy to scroll down so far to read your post. Make sure that you have a moderate number of posts on your homepage. Don’t make your homepage that long, because it has got so much things to load, it will eventually slow down your loading time. Actually The Millionaire Secrets loading time is also consider slow. Maybe is due to the templates, I’m not very sure. So now you know that people hate to scroll down to read a site, thus you must avoid this.

    25. Be Generous, Give Away Stuffs
This is what you can do if you want to attract people in your blog. Honestly, there are many ways you can attract people to your blog or catch up more readers. One of the way is giving away free stuffs. Of course, I don’t mean to give away physical stuffs though. If you give away physical stuff then you will have to deal with all the shipping process which is very irritating. What you can give away for free then? This is a blog, so what do people like the most? Links and reviews. These two are just examples, there are still many more if you are creative to think for it. Review works great. I’ve seen this in many people’s blog. Here is an example, I’ve seen some blogs that having competition, asking readers to drop quality comments, and the one who leave the most comments win. The prize will be a review of the winner’s blog or site in the author’s blog. Great idea isn’t it? Therefore I always said that you must be creative and think out of the box. You can try to do so as well.
