eBay Title Writing Tips

TheWeblogZone.com - A blog about Blogging and Online Marketing highly recommends Thesis Wordpress Theme for your blog!

Trying to be help your buyers find your auctions can be a truly daunting task. Most people only search eBay by title, not by description, and that means that you only have those 55 characters of the title to cover all the possible search terms. That’s not easy. In this email, I’ll give you a few pointers.

Don’t bother with eBay cliches: There are plenty of eBay auction titles that say things like “Super rare camera wow look low price”. These are stupid things to put in your title, as no-one is going to search for them.

Think like a buyer: If you were looking for your item, then what exactly would you type into that box? If you think it’d help, try searching yourself to find someone else selling your item. What were the first things you thought of typing?

Think like other sellers: Keep an eye on which sellers are doing best with items like yours, and try to copy their title styles - if it works for them, it can work for you.

Be specific: You should be sure to write the item’s brand and specific model number in the title, as people will often search only for this information. Make sure that you also say exactly what the item is.

A Few Examples.

Here are a few examples of good titles. They’re real, and they’re on eBay right now, making their sellers money. So what makes them good?

“Dell Latitude Laptop P3 500mhz Notebook PC Computer”

If you know about computers, you’ll know instantly what this auction is selling. It has manufacturer (Dell) and product line (Latitude), followed by a few technical specifications (P3 500mhz is the processor speed). Notice also that the title includes the four words ‘laptop’, ‘notebook’, ‘PC’ and ‘computer’, as the seller wants people looking for any of those words to see his auction.

“OASIS Don’t Believe the Truth CD Album (New)”

This auction for a CD is well formatted: it gives the artist name in capital letters, followed by the album name. It then manages to include the two key words ‘CD’ and ‘album’, as well as the word ‘new’ - that means that anyone searching for ‘new oasis cd’, ‘oasis new album’ and so on will find this auction.

“1840 Penny Black stamp, certificate, four margins”

Here’s a slightly more obscure one, from the exciting world of stamp collecting. A penny black is one of the oldest and most famous stamps. It uses a few key words that collectors will consider important: ‘four margins’ indicates that the stamp has been cut out with some margins around it and so isn’t damaged, and ‘certificate’ tells you that the item has a certificate of authenticity - it’s a real penny black. Remember to use every bit of space to squeeze in as much important information as you can in the title.

So now that you’ve written a winning title, you need to start on a great description. The next email will show you how.

TheWeblogZone.com - A blog about Blogging and Online Marketing highly recommends Thesis Wordpress Theme for your blog!

Once you’ve drawn the buyers in with your title, the next thing to do is to tell them all about your item with the description. But just what should you write in your description?

At its heart, your item description is an ad. Without making it too obvious, you should be writing sales copy. You’re trying to get buyers excited about your products, and that’s usually hard - but on eBay, if you have the right thing to sell and give enough details, the buyers almost excite themselves.

Technical Details.

Include every technical detail you know, including the item’s manufacturer, its condition, how big it is, where and when it was made, its history, and anything else special about it. Don’t be too boring, though: the best descriptions are written in friendly, conversational language, and show a real knowledge of the item. Whatever you do, make sure you tell the truth!

Remember that most of the people who’ll be buying your item will be just as knowledgeable about it as you are, if not more - this is their hobby, and they’re experts. Don’t feel like you need to explain the basics of the item: just go into as much technical detail as you can. As a rule, don’t write anything in the description if you don’t know what it means, as the chances are someone will, and if you’ve got it slightly wrong then you’ll look like you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Interesting Details.

You might find that you enjoy writing a few things about how you got the item, why you’re selling it, and who you think might like it. This isn’t strictly necessary, but it gives your auctions some character and a personal touch, and can make people more likely to trust you. People might wonder what you’re doing selling 500 CDs all at once, and if you tell them the reason, then they’ll feel reassured that nothing dodgy is going on. If you’re selling them because you’re having a baby and you need the space, just say so.

Write as Much as You Can.

Leave nothing out of your description, even if that seems to you like it makes it cumbersomely long. There is no way you can be too thorough: someone, somewhere will appreciate that you took the time to write the extra information.

Don’t assume that anyone who wants extra information will email you to ask a question: many buyers are shy and won’t do it. Think of questions that buyers might have and add the answers to your description, as people generally tend to ask the same questions over and over again.

Each time a buyer does email you with a question, you should both answer their question and update your description so that it will include the answer next time. If people ask questions that are answered in the description, try putting these parts of the auction on a line alone, or in bold, to make them easier to notice.

In the next email, we’ll focus on increasing the number of buyers who respond to your auctions.

I’m sure by now you know a thing or two about Adsense. So I’ll skip the long drawn out explanation. In short, Adsense is simply a Google advertising program that allows nearly anyone with a website or a blog, the opportunity to place paid ads on their website, and share in the ad revenue. Ok, with that explained, let’s talk about actually making money with the program.

It’s really quite simple, not easy, but simple. You just have to get people to your blog that are interested in what you you are blogging about. And guess what? I’m going to show you how to do it for FREE. It will take work and some effort, but it will work. If you want to purchase tools to help you better automate the process, I’ll let you know which ones work. I know because I’ve tried a lot of them. Well without further ado, here’s my blueprint for Adsense Success.

1. Create An Optimized Blog:

Blogs are a fantastic tool to use for promoting Google Adsense. This is because blogs are first of all, free, they are easy to customize, have a built in ability to automatically place adsense ads on your blog and quite simply, search engines love them. To get the most out of your blog, make sure to optimize it the same way you would optimize any other website. Add title tags and make sure to mention the keyword or phrase you are targeting for the search engines at least several times throughout your posts. If you want more information about promoting and driving free traffic to your blog, I suggest you read Blogging Bonanza, its a really good report about making great money with blogs.

2. Update Daily:

Updating your blog/website is important for two reasons. First the search engines love fresh content. This will help you get higher rankings and enable more people to find your blog/website, which means more potential cash for you. Secondly, people will come back and visit your blog/website if it is updated frequently and informative. I will let you in on a secret. If you want to add information to your blog without writing it yourself, there are tools to help you automate the process.

3. Submit Your Blog to Blog/Rss Directories:

Submitting your blog and RSS Feeds to directories will enable people interested in your topic to visit your blog and subscribe to your RSS Feed. This also provides high PR, back links to your blog, which will help you tremendously in your search engine efforts. There is a really good, free website that lists all of the top blog and RSS directories. You can take a look at it here. http://www.masternewmedia.org/rss/top55/ Submitting your blog and RSS feed to all of the sites can be time consuming, especially if you have more than one blog. There is a piece of software available that will allow you to do it much faster.

4. Blend Your Ads:

Make sure that your Adsense ads blend into your website, so that it looks like a natural part of it. Make sure the background of the ad matches your website and that the ad text color looks good and blends in with your site. If you use Blogger.com then it will automatically blend the ads in for you.

5. Use Articles to Promote Your Blog or Website: This is a free way to get targeted and best of all, FREE traffic to your website or blog. Interested individuals as well as ezine, blog and other website owners, will pick up your articles and publish them to their websites if your articles are well-written and applicable. This type of software will automatically submit your articles This type of software will automatically submit your articles to over 100 of the top article directories which will give you added exposure and more back links. You can also use a automated service. I have done this, but it really slowed me down because I had to constantly make changes, just to get the article approved. It would take me nearly 1 week to get one article approved just so it could finally get submitted. When I purchased my own software, I could send out articles everyday. So it really helped my marketing efforts.

  • I’m going to show you some of the tips that I use to generate thousands from my website every single month using just AdSense. Last month AdSense paid me over eleven thousand dollars and I’m going to show you how I did it.

The first thing you need to get right with AdSense is the correct ad format. That means the size of ad, the shape of ad and the colors that you use. Everyone knows that the more you can blend your ad into your websites color scheme, the more clicks you’ll get. You need to make your ads look almost as if they’re not actually ads. You’re not trying to trick people, because with each of the ads Google itself will have the description ‘Ads by Google’ so people will know they are adverts. Your job is to make your ads fit in so well with your website that people don’t fall prey to what is called banner or advertising blindness.

Some formats that work best are the skyscraper formats and also the 728 leaderboards and larger formats. If you use these formats, you should try and make the linking text for the headline to be the same color as other links on your website. Also if you have the text of the actual URL, you’ll notice that at the bottom of every ad is the actual web address. If you make that web address on AdSense the same color as the description text, that also works very well. What that does is make the headline of each ad actually jump out from the page and it encourages people to click on it. That’s another way you can get more people to click on your ads.

The other thing that you can do is to research the highest paying key phrases. You probably have a website full of content already and you’ve placed the AdSense code onto those pages so that you can start getting revenue every time somebody clicks on an ad. Now that’s fine, but what you can start to do is actually create and find content and key phrases that produce the highest paying ads.

Now I know for a fact that from all the clicks that I get there are some that generate a couple of cents per click, but there are also ads on my site that actually produce several dollars every time someone clicks on them. The key to making it big with AdSense is to get your hands on those high-paying keywords. You can find some of these out for free, but as with most things you get what you pay for. Free lists aren’t worth anything and they definitely aren’t worth your time.

  • The Google AdSense program is now one of the most popular ways to make money online for webmasters. If you own a blog or a site then by simply adding AdSense you have the opportunity to make good income depending on the levels of traffic your site receives.

However just because your site receives traffic it does not necessarily mean that it will transfer into AdSense clicks as website visitors are now familiar with AdSense and can be very good at avoiding it. Here are some of the best ways to get your site visitors to notice your ads which means that the likelihood of ad clicks increases significantly.

    Tip 1: Use More Ads

If your site is suffering from very low click through rates such as under one percent then adding more ads may help. The AdSense program allows 3 ad units and 2 link units. If your page has enough content then seriously consider integrating all these units into your site.

Tip 2: Place Ads Above The Fold

The location of the ads is very important in order to get the most clicks possible. Make sure that you place some ads above the fold on your website. The above the fold area is the part of your site that is first seen when the page loads without the visitor having to scroll down.

Tip 3: Place Ads Toward The Center Of The Page

The center of the page receives the most attention by web visitors so whenever possible center your ads or get them as close as possible towards the center of the page.

Tip 4: Use The Right Colors For Your Ads

Using the right colors in your AdSense ads can make a big difference in helping to blend your ads in with the rest of your site. Make sure the link color in your ads match the main link color on your site. It is also preferable to use a grey color for the ad URL, this will help to make the ad headline stand out more which should help to increase click through rates since most headlines are written to attract clicks.

Tip 5: Place Ads Directly In Your Articles

You need to place ads directly in your content in order to get them noticed more. If you have an article page then add an AdSense unit directly below the title of that article. Also you can use HTML tables to place AdSense units in your article paragraphs and have the text in your articles wrap around the ads.

Make sure that you are not squeezing your content too much so be sure to have enough space for large AdSense units and also enough text so that your articles still look good and readable. It is best to use the 336×280 ad unit as much as possible as it has been shown to be a good performer and also make sure to always remove borders from all ads as this will make the ads blend in better with the rest of your site.

Also remember that advertising works by creating an interruption in the user experience. Consider television and how you are shown ads without notice right in the middle of your favorite shows. This is done to force you to notice the ads so a similar approach needs to be used with AdSense ads to draw more clicks. Put your ads in positions that gently interrupt your visitors without making them want to leave your site. Apply some of these tips to help you get higher AdSense click through rates and make more money from your site.

Combine blogging with activity on various social networks like MySpace, and suddenly thousands of people know you, and what you can do.

Your resume blog is a shortcut to a high-powered writing career.

Three: Create A Network Blog And Become Part Of The In-Group

As a writer, you need a network. The easiest way to build an ever-growing network is to blog about writing. As you blog your writing tips, you’ll make friends with other writers and will become part of their network. Suddenly you’re part of an “in” group of publishing professionals.

As the content is the key of success I’m going to write here 5 tips that you should follow when writing a post. These are practical tips and every Blogger should follow them. These 5 tips will also help you to write more popular post and with help of social bookmarks you will get a tons of traffic and backlinks from it. So here are 5 practical tips to write better posts:

    1. Take more time and write more quality posts - This should know every Blogger it is a fact that works in every business. More time you spend creating something bigger is the change you done it better. Same thing is in writing post, more time you spend writing it and making it more unique higher is the chance your post will get popular and visitors will like it. Try to write quality post and not nonsense long post.

    2. Make it unique and extend your ideas - Reading other Blogs will help you creating a post which will not include same ideas that others did. Well this is hard to do as is a lot of Bloggers out there, so just try to use your brains and your ideas to make perfect post.

    3. Design and don’t use just writing skills so you can draw attentions of readers - Posts with only words in it are usually boring and nothing special. Of course they maybe have great content but when readers browse over you Blog will always first look at the image that post has and then the title. So try to create images, thumbnails so the post will look special. You can see problogger.net which is usually making own images and they look really great and unique.

    4. Telling readers what post will include - Usually on the first page of your Blog as recent post you don’t post all the content. You cut it on half or 1/3, so readers need to click on it. And what you should write in 1/3 it has great importance. So you need to write 2,3 lines things that your post will include so readers can see what is post about as they from title don’t.

    5. Be gentle and use some outbound links - If you include some lines of content from other Blogs then you should tell that with posting links. Or use some friendly links so people will like you and give you a backlink. Remember you are kind to others and others will be kind back.

    Successful Blogging Tips

Read Blogging Tips from Blogging Mix to stay updated of the latest and the most effective blogging tips.

    Successful Blogs

The best way to learn how to have a successful blog is to review other blogs that are proven success stories. To do this I recommend that you visit a site called Bloglines.

Do a search to find blogs that are similar to your blog and review each to see what they are doing. It’s easy to tell if a blog is doing well by how often they are updating and how many comments each blog post receives.

    Blog Links

Take another trip back to Bloglines.com/dir and do a search again for blogs within a similar genre as your blog but not necessarily identical. Start replying to some of the blog posts made, giving your thoughts about the post or topic. Do this a few times with various blogs, then once you’ve done it on a regular occasion end your post with a signature link that goes to your site. Take note do *NOT* do this in the initial stages or with your first post. You must first acquire a relationship with the blogs, first by posting comments and leaving positive feedback. After gaining trust you can simply place a link with your next post comment. I recommend replying at least 5 to 10 times before attempting to place a link.

    Blog Commenting

When you’ve first started your blog as I mentioned prior, comments help your blog look more active. Initially you may find that users may not post comments to your blog. It’s going to be up to you to get things going. Have your friends or family members start leaving comments on your blog as it can make your blog seem more active. People like to see activity; if your blog seems dead you’ll likely get no responses. If you would rather not have your family even know about your blog, then you can post comments yourself but as a “Guest” or as registered user instead of admin.

Respond to your own posts initially to create activity, then you’ll start to see other real users placing comments as well. What usually works best is to leave a controversial comment. Start making comments that are guaranteed to elicit a response. I’ve created “characters” before that post controversial statements on my blog to really get user interest going. This “character” may disagree with a blog posting I made, creating a sequence of posts that increase the activity comments of my post. Once you see that users have taken interest in your blog you can now rely on their posts rather than creating fake ones of your own.

Remember if you are going to do fake comment posts, to space the timing between posts. For example never post two minutes after you’ve posted as admin, as it’s too obvious that you’re the same person. Allow some time to pass by before making your “fake user comments post”. If you would rather not do the “fake posts” yourself, some bloggers have actually paid users to reply to posts on their blog. If you go to popular webmaster forums, you’ll find that users get paid for making posts on forums. The usual rate is about .10 cents per post or something within that range. The same theory applies for blog comments. You can hire a set of 10 to 20 people to comment on your posts and pay them a small fee, this way you generate some interest in your blog.

If you post a project on the sites I mentioned previously such as Scriptlance.com or Getafreelancer.com for “Blog Posters”, you can find people who can get your blog active, by making comments and paying them a small fee. You can do this until you get users posting on your site in reply to the posters you have paid. Within a few weeks your blog should be very active. This benefits you in the long run as the search engines will be visiting your site often due to the constant updates.
